Supply Chain and Procurement

GB Energy will be procuring four major contracts for components and activities – offshore drilling, the onshore crossing, pipeline construction and the construction of a gas processing facility.

The large scale businesses selected through our tender process will be looking for local businesses to support their construction delivery. This will include civil contractors, electrical works, manufacturing, labour hire, consulting services, transport, health and safety training, waste disposal services, catering and more.

There will also be long-term opportunities over the project’s 40-year operational life.

We have ambitions to make a difference in Gippsland and to maximise opportunities on a societal level, so if your business is local, employs locals or has a focus on inclusion and participation we’d like to hear more about you and how you support your people.

Businesses need to register their expression of interest on our ICN Gateway Page. We’re easy to find – look for the GB Energy project page and tell us about your capability and strengths. We’ll ensure all expressions of interest are provided to our four selected contractors. If you think there’s a feature about your business that we should know more about, please reach out to us by email here and we can ensure this extra information is also passed on.

Jobs and the local workforce

During the construction period of approximately 2 years there will be close to 1,000 jobs on offer. These will be in varying trades and fields of expertise including:

• Civil construction

• Earth Moving

• Drilling

• Pipeline manufacturing

• Welding

• Gas line testing

• Health and safety

Once the construction phase is complete there will also be a limited number of ongoing jobs at our gas processing facility located at Dutson, along with a requirement for some services. These roles will include operations and maintenance technicians and supervisors and will help operate our 24/7 gas processing facility delivering gas when it is most needed.
